Training & Background
Dr Babur Javaid graduated in 1987. He completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine in Mersey Deanery, Liverpool. During his training, Dr Javaid had the opportunity to work with Professor Sir Ian Gilmore , Ex-President Royal College of Physicians, London. As a Registrar he also had the honour to work with very eminent Gatroenterologists , Professors Martin Lombard, Anthony Morris and JM Rhodes all of whom have acted as Presidents of British Society of Gastroenterology. Dr Javaid was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at North Cumbria University Hospitals in 2001. Dr Javaid has been very committed to Training and Education. He successfully completed a Diploma in Clinical Education in 2010. He also acts as an examiner for postgraduate examination on behalf of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. He has been and is also currently involved with research. Dr Javaid has acted as principal investigator/co - investigator for a number of multicentre clinical trials.
Dr Javaid moved to in Bedford Hospital in April 2014. He is clinical lead for Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service, and is also involved with endoscopy training. He acts as both Clinical and Educational Supervisor to both Medical and Non-Medical trainees. He takes part in teaching Medical students. He is predominantly a luminal Gastroenterologist who carries out both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
